House Information
Here is a video of the house and area.
Outside Space

The wall at the back of the house is the boundary. Please do not use or sit on the grass strip as it belongs to the house next door and is part of their driveway.
The semi-circular lawn is available to both cottages.

Parking. There is ample parking space for the use of both cottages on the land to the left of cottage No1. The parking area extends in line with the left hand edge of the shed. There is an additional space beyond the garden of No2. Please do not park on the drive as this can block access for large vehicles.
Bike and other storage. There is a key to the shed in the garden safely store bicycles, fishing gear or other large items. In the shed there is a box of outdoor games and folding BBQs and tools. During the winter the garden chairs and parasols are stored in here but do get them out and use them if we have a sunny spell.
There is a hosepipe on the wall of cottage No 1 for hosing off bikes etc. It could also be used to water the outside plants if you are feeling kind to them.
Electricity & Heating
The house is heated by far infrared heaters on the ceilings and the mirror in the bathroom of cottage number 1. This is why you will not see any radiators. The heat is similar to that from the sun and heats you rather than the air.
Each room has its own programmer. They are all set at what we feel is the best for our climate but if you are too hot or too cold you can adjust the temperature by doing a temporary override.
COTTAGE NUMBER 1 Press and hold either the UP or DOWN key to display the currently set temperature. After two seconds you should be in the Temporary Override mode where the clock and day are displayed, along
with the SET indicator. The
currently set temperature will flash to show that it can be changed:
press the UP or DOWN key to raise or lower the temperature in 0.5 °C steps. You can press SET at any time to confirm the new temporary setting or just keep holding it for a few seconds. . The Temporary Override remains active until the next programme
time / temperature set point is reached unless you reset it back to the original temperature.
COTTAGE NUMBER 2 Press the +HR button. Press the up or down arrow to set the temperature. Slide down the front panel and press the SET button. This will set the new temperature for an hour. It will then return to the preset programme.
Consumer Unit (fusebox)
Cottage no1 You will find the consumer unit in the rear bedroom.
Cottage no2 You will find the consumer unit in the cupboard on the wall of the lounge.
Emergency torch. There is a torch plugged in in the hall. Please leave it switched on. If there is a power cut it will come on automatically. If you do not want it to come on as a safety light at night you can turn it round or turn it off on the torch but please do not turn the power switch off. You can lift the torch out of its holder and use it as a standard torch but please do put it back in its cradle when you have finished.
Hot water. Because of the high electricity cost the hot water is turned off between each guest party so please check that the cleaning team has switched it on for you. The hot water is from a hot tank in the loft. The switch for it is to be found at :-
Cottage no 1 On the wall in the hall.
Cottage no 2 On the wall above the bench in the kitchen to the left of the ceramic hob.
It would be much appreciated if guests could turn the hot water off before you leave. 👍

Waste & Bins
There are three bins in the kitchen. One for recycling, one for general waste and one for glass. Each area of the country has different rules for waste collection. In Northumberland the bin collectors are instructed not to empty any bin which has incorrect stuff in it so please follow this simple checklist to ensure your bins do get emptied.
- Put your bin out on Tuesday evening or before 7am on Wednesday at the kerbside.
- Don't overfill your bin; the lid must be able to close.
- Don't leave excess waste alongside your bin as it will not be collected.
- Please follow the guide below on what goes in which bin.
It would be very helpful if guests could put their wheelie bin out on Tuesday evening. (On Bank Holiday weeks they are a day later).
The dates are: General Waste - green bin.
8th April, 22nd April, 6th May, 20th May, 3rd June, 17th June etc.

Water
The stop tap to turn off the supply in an emergency is to be found under the kitchen sink.
The water comes from a private supply so occasionally the pressure may be a little low. The system has a header tank in the loft to maximise the pressure.
The hot water is from a tank with an electric immersion heater. For property no1 the switch is in the hall. In property no2 it is in the kitchen to the left of the hob. In light of the current high cost of electricity we would appreciate you turning it off whenever possible and before you leave.

The sewage is to a septic tank so please do not flush anything other than normal loo paper.
