Cottage Information

Thrunton Vale Cottages started life as a roadside garage and tearooms; serving the local community and travellers on the A697.  In the late 1970's it became a detached residential bungalow and then in the late 2010's it was refurbished once again and split into semi-detached self contained two bedroom holiday cottages.

Each cottage has a Visitor Information Folder which you should familiarise yourself with on your arrival.  This can be found in the living area.  This will provide you with all the information you need to know about the cottages for your stay.  However, please find some information below that will help you for your arrival.

Parking

There is ample parking for both cottages. For those staying at The Old Garage, up to two vehicles can be parked 'front to back' on the gravel to the left of the cottage. For those staying at The Old Tearooms, there is space for one vehicle at the beyond the front garden of the cottage, and if necessary, an additional space in front of the black shed to the left of the cottages. Please do not park on, or block the carriage driveway at any time

Outdoor Lighting

The cottages are in a rural, dark skies location where there are no street lights.  We have recently installed some festoon lighting around some of the fencing which should help your arrival if it is dark.  The lights are on a timer and will come on around sunset and stay on until 10pm.  There is also an outside lights on each cottage.  We would however, still recommend bringing a torch with you, or using the light on your phone.

Key Lock Box

The key lock box is located to the left of the front door on each cottage.  The code to enter the cottage will be provided to you 24-48hrs before you stay, either by Airbnb, or from your host if you booked directly.

To operate the key lock box, pull down the black weather cover to reveal the keypad.  Firstly pull down the black 'clear' slider in the middle of the keypad to reset the lock.  Then enter the code that you have been given.  The black handle at the top can then be turned clockwise to open the key lock box.  To lock the box, the box should be closed and the black handle turned anticlockwise, and then it will be locked.

Boundaries

The semi-circular lawn to the front of the carriage driveway is available for use by both cottages.

The wall at the back of the building is the cottage boundary. Please do not use or sit on the grass strip as it belongs to the house next door and is part of their driveway.
